Our Co-Founders Geraldine Howard and Sue Beechey are considered pioneers of modern day aromatherapy
INTRODUCTION
We have been sharing the therapeutic benefits of essential oils for over 30 years. Starting out as therapists in the early 1970s, we were privileged to be involved in the emerging practice of aromatherapy. We experienced first hand the fantastic positive effects of essential oils on the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of our clients. It was clear to us then that aromatherapy could produce powerful results and we’ve maintained a strong commitment to its traditional principles ever since.
We started our business with the aim of bringing the benefits of essential oils to as many people as possible. To this day we continue to use our extensive knowledge and experience to develop skin, bath and bodycare that transforms a daily routine into something luxurious and deeply beneficial.
As we aspire to be the most respected partner for hotels and spas worldwide, we maintain a long-standing commitment to the absolute quality of our products, treatments, training and service. This is how we ensure the relationship we build with you is a lasting one.

WISDOM MEETS WELLBEING
We are proud to trace a direct line back to the very beginnings of modern aromatherapy. Our studies began in the 1970s when Geraldine and Sue both trained under Micheline Arcier, student of aromatherapy founders Marguerite Maury, an Austrian biochemist and skincare pioneer, and Jean Valnet M.D., an expert in the science of essential oils. This association with aromatherapy’s earliest practitioners has provided an ongoing link to the traditional principles of aromatherapy and the benefits essential oils bring when applied in the right way.
THE COMPANY
Since those early days, Geraldine and Sue have maintained a deep passion for teaching, practicing and blending oils. In 1985, Aromatherapy Associates was established to share the benefits of aromatherapy through a range of therapeutic-grade products and treatments. We’ve continued to develop and expand, and our products are now sold at exclusive hotels, spas and retail outlets in over 30 countries worldwide.
Our company brings together a team of talented and committed people with unique and complementary skills. With experience in spas, therapy, product development and retail, we understand your business from every angle. Our hands-on approach enables us to provide a comprehensive service at every level. Thanks to our experience we develop products that therapists themselves love to use.

That’s why in 1985 we helped set up the International Federation of Aromatherapists, an organization dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of aromatherapy across the industry.
